Kvit Discusses Media and Ukrainian Revolutions

Professor Serhiy Kvit of the Kyiv-Mohyla School of Journalism, Ukraine, former president of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2007-2014) and Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (2014-2016), visited the UIUC campus on Monday, November 13, 2017 with a talk entitled “Media Context of Ukrainian Revolutions as a Key to Understanding the Post-Soviet World.” Prof. Kvit traced the evolution of mass media in Ukraine over the last three decades, analyzed their functions and roles, and assessed their socio-political impact. This event was organized by the Ukrainian Studies Program at UIUC and supported by the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures and Russian East European and Eurasian Center. It became possible thanks to the Dmytro Shtohryn Endowment in Ukrainian Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
